County of San Diego Equity Indicators Report

A deep dive into San Diego County’s regional disparities, and what needs to be done to achieve economic equity.

Through collaboration with the County’s Office of Equity & Racial Justice and Office of Evaluation, Performance and Analytics, the Policy & Innovation Center completed the region’s first Equity Report. Significant disparities were found in every domain and demographic, but some of the starkest were racial disparities in employment and income. These findings tell us about San Diego’s most pressing economic needs and support federal and state funding applications.

Everyone who lives, works, and learns in the region must have the opportunities, resources, and power to thrive and racial hierarchies, systemic bias, and other structural barriers must be addressed. Nonprofit partners, business leaders, public agencies, and advocates are encouraged to use this research to learn more about regional inequities and use the report to identify spending priorities and advocate for their communities.
