More of San Diego County’s Latino students are graduating from high school, report finds
As seen on KPBS: A new report from the Policy & Innovation Center examines the well-being of young people across San Diego County and finds significant gains in educational outcomes among Hispanic and Latino students.
The report found that the high school graduation rate for Hispanic and Latino students increased from 68% in 2005 to 91% in 2023—a more than 20-percentage-point increase and the largest increase among racial and ethnic groups with complete data. College enrollment also increased from 42% to 57% during the same period. The report also highlights continued challenges for young adults, including access to career pathways and opportunities that lead to a self-sufficient wage.
