Equity
Regions are stronger when all people, regardless of their background or where they live, enjoy equitable opportunities for economic advancement.

Through its research, policy analysis, and partnerships, the Policy & Innovation Center tackles inequities on multiple fronts, including the economy, jobs, and education. Our work identifies information gaps, and uses interactive tools to reveal policy solutions in areas such as community investment, water affordability, and infrastructure access.

Youth Wellbeing in San Diego
Youth wellbeing is essential to our region’s long-term prosperity. Our children’s early education, health, stability, and safety shapes their ability to thrive and reach their full potential for the rest of their lives. This report tracks these important dimensions of wellbeing from 2005 to 2023, for San Diegans aged 0 to 24. We identify encouraging signs of progress but also rising challenges and persistent disparities by race, sex, disability, immigration status, age, and sexual orientation. We use this data to identify promising opportunities for public investment and policy change. We wish to thank the San Diego Foundation, the Prebys Foundation, and the City of San Diego for their generous support in producing this report.
